Welcome back!

We are thrilled to announce that MMCM is now open to the public! Things are going to look a little bit different and with safety in mind, we have made some changes to the museum experience.

Here’s what you can expect:

New Limited Hours – MMCM will be open for play on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10 AM – 4 PM. We will be closed on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday for deep cleaning and maintenance.

Limited Capacity – We will be operating at a limited capacity of 50 persons including staff and volunteers.

Reduced High-Touch Items – We have greatly reduced the number of handheld toys and objects throughout the museum. Costumes and some other fabric pieces have also been removed from exhibits. All props and toys on the gallery floor will be removed and replaced with a clean set every two hours. (10 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM)

Gallery and Exhibit Closures – Galleries and exhibits that are high-touch or where it is impossible to practice physical distancing will be closed initially. Closed areas include: Milkshake the Cow (Aunt Sugar’s Farm), Pneumatic Tubes (A-Mazing Airways), Operation Table (Insides Out), Lateral Climbing Wall. Other areas deemed necessary by staff may also be closed during your visit.

No Food & Drink – Unfortunately, no food or drink will be allowed in the museum. Our snack area is temporarily closed along with our water fountains. You may bring a water bottle and our touch-free water bottle refilling station will be open. Please leave food and snacks in the car or at home.

Plan Ahead – Our coat/locker room will be closed initially. Please bring only what you need. If possible, leave large bags, coats, and strollers in your car. Strollers brought into the museum must stay with your group at all times.

Let’s play it safe! We are committed to providing a clean, safe and welcoming environment for all of our visitors. We are requiring our guests to help us in our efforts by following our guidelines. To view our full reopening plan, click here.

Please note that in visiting MMCM, you are agreeing to:

Undergo a health screening upon your arrival.

Wear a mask during the duration of your visit.

Practice social distancing.

Be symptom-free at the time of your visit.

Cleaning Procedures & Policies

As a hands-on children’s museum, the health and wellness of our visitors and staff has always been our top priority. We have updated our cleaning procedures to align with latest recommendations of health officials.

  • The entire facility will undergo a deep clean prior to reopening and will be cleaned and sanitized daily.
  • We are conducting routine cleaning of high-touch areas, common spaces, and exhibits during our open hours.
  • The museum is deep cleaned during days we are closed to the public.
  • 25 hand sanitizer stations have been placed around the museum for easy access. Sinks are located within every restroom and in the Art Mart.
  • Three “Clean Me” Bins have been placed around the museum to collect dirty and mouthed toys. Toys placed within these bins will be removed and sanitized before returning to the gallery floor.

Like many institutions, we are approaching re-opening with an abundance of caution. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we navigate reopening. We will be adjusting our policies based on recommendations from our state and local health departments and visitors experience and feedback.
