Let's Celebrate! MMCM Turns 11 & Sports Inspire June Activities

May 22, 2019

With summer right around the corner and warm weather on the way, it is time to get outside and get moving! This month’s theme at the Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum is “Sports,” and we have many exciting activities planned for our visitors. Every weekend during the month of June, there will be interactive activities and crafts related to sports. Children will learn about different sports to get them excited and active this summer!

Do you have a favorite sports team? During the first weekend in June, come create a sports pennant to cheer on your favorite team at the Rah, Rah, Rah: Art Mart Activity! Will you make a pennant for the Tigers, Loons or a different team? Be creative and have fun designing a pennant you can hang in your room, give as a gift or take to a sporting event this summer.

It’s time to make some noise! On Saturday, June 8, we will be celebrating our 11th birthday! Join us for the Happy Birthday, MMCM: Art Mart Activity! There you can create your own noisemaker, make a birthday hat and enjoy a special birthday treat free with admission. You can use your noisemaker at our birthday celebration, and you can take it with you to the next sporting event you attend. It’s always important to cheer others on!

June 15 will be dedicated to all our amazing dads! Is your dad awesome? Make a trophy for him at the Trophy Dad: Art Mart Activity and present it to him for Father’s Day! Make him feel special like he is on your team. And… Dads Play Free! on Father’s Day, June 16. Visit MMCM to spend some quality time learning and playing with your special person.

Have you been able to play a sport outside lately? Stop by MMCM Saturday, June 22 for the Game Time: Art Mart Activity. Make a windsock to hang in your yard and show your neighbors who your favorite sports team is. Get some fresh air and exercise by playing your favorite sport outside and encourage your friends to play with you!

A swing and a miss. No, a swing and a hit! Come by MMCM the last weekend in June, for In the Swing of Things: Art Mart Activity to make a baseball bat and score a home run at the museum. Design a special bat made just for you and learn about baseball, known as “America’s Pastime.”

There are many different types of sports to learn about and enjoy! Not only do sports help children be more active, these activities also teach life lessons such as teamwork, sportsmanship and dedication. Explore your Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum this June to participate in our special sports-themed activities!
